On the Wing

Flying in the face of widespread left wing extremism!

Tel Aviv: Bloody Monday.

Posted by Exile on April 17, 2006

I have been following the story through Reuters and others. Once again, in the midst of Passover, a Palestinian nutcase has blown himself up and taken at least 6 jewish lives and wounded countless others. I think about 60, at the last count.

The target?
A sandwich cafe and anybody who happened to be unfortunate enough to be there.

Not a military installation. Not the seat of government. Not even a government office. Just a sandwich bar and its patrons.

This is what the palestinians call “freedom fighting”. I call it something else. “Murder” springs to mind. “Islamic terrorism” does too.

And just who is to blame for this?

Well according to Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri, the attack is:

“…a natural result of the continued Israeli crimes against our people. The Israeli occupation bears responsibility for the continuation of its aggression. Our people are in a state of self-defense and they have every right to use all means to defend themselves.”

Oh. I see. It was a palestinian defending himself at a sandwich bar.

A slightly different description, quoted from Reuters:

A senior al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade leader in the occupied West Bank said the attack was to avenge Israeli raids in Gaza, referring to Israeli air strikes and artillery barrages against positions from where militants fire rockets into Israel.

Yes. It’s clear now. How dare the Israelis shoot back? Just who is attacking who here?

Here’s the deplorable bit:

In parts of Gaza, Islamic Jihad gunmen fired into the air and gave out sweets to celebrate the attack, witnesses said.

See my blog on Muslim Joe Six-Pack.

Finally, there is an open declaration of responsibility.

Both the Islamic Jihad militant group and the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, which is linked to the Fatah movement of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, claimed responsibility.

I daresay, that all parts in the relevant governments around the world will ‘condemn’ the bombing, as usual. They will ‘condemn’ the spiral of violence, as usual. The jaw-jaw and the hoo-ha that we are used to will rattle on for a day or so and then it will be business ‘as usual’ until the next palestinian outrage takes place.

What I want to know is, where is the open and utter condemnation of a government that refuses Israel the right to exist? Where is the open and utter condemnation of all the terrorist groups in palestine? And why, if they truly want peace, aren’t the palestinians themselves condemning these actions as hurtful to their cause instead of celebrating with sweets and gunfire and (you can bet your ass on it) more dancing in the streets?

A final quote from Reuters:

The cash-strapped Hamas-led Palestinian Authority has been under intense financial and diplomatic pressure from Israel and the West, which have cut off hundreds of millions of dollars of funding until it renounces violence, recognizes the Jewish state and abides by existing peace deals.

Cash-strapped they may be, but apparently there is still enough to fund this mindless activity.
